ABOUT

Low brass to make your booty shake!

Recently moved back home to Australia from the US, and am seeking projects / collaborators for 2023 and beyond. I have been active in the Denver music scene for several years and spent some time in New Orleans learning first hand about the brass band traditions there.

I live to make music that makes people feel good and compels them to shake their booty! I believe the show is as important as the music, and an exchange of energy between the musicians and the crowd is what brings music to life.

Much of my experience is playing funk, soul, blues, r&b, ska, reggae and pop in high energy party bands (weddings, festivals, corporate, clubs) and I’d love to play with this type of group again. I can read from your book, or transcribe / arrange horn parts as needed.

My passion is New Orleans brass band music (secondline - Hot 8, Dirty Dozen, Rebirth, TBC and others inspired by them eg Lucky Chops, Youngblood). I’m experienced playing sousaphone and trombone in this style and would love to join or build a group that really knocks with a true secondline groove and a rapper.

I have studio experience, as well as musical / creative direction and band management experience. I also play a bit of keys (enough to comp but not solo) and can do background / gang vocals as needed.

Some of the bands I’ve been a regular member of in recent years are The Isaac Points Jakarta Band, Better Sensory Perception, Badda Boom Brass Band, Rowdy Shadehouse, Velvet Compass, Maid of Orleans and SecondLion.

I’m open to other types of project such as big bands, musical theater etc. I’m an avid student of jazz but haven’t studied it in a formal setting. Based in Newcastle but willing to travel to Sydney for the right project. Open to touring.
