I'm a musician and songwriter who has played all sorts of stuff, having listened widely and played many gigs in all sorts of settings, including festivals. I'm fortunate in that I play a few different instruments.
I played bass and sang lead vocals in the Elwood Blues Club house band every Sunday during 2022, playing that or drums when required - you never know what sort of players you'll be backing up, so you have to be ready for anything, which I enjoy. I like the idea of making a song sound rehearsed when you're playing it for the first time - to do that, you have to put your ego away and listen. Currently (October 2024) playing drums/doing harmonies every Tuesday night in a trio.

Influences

Ringo Starr and Duck Dunn for their solid playing which got dance floors moving around the world - they still do, in fact. I appreciate any singers with a great style, whether it's Sinatra, Aretha, Lizzo, Johnny Rotten or Johnny Cash.
I know what works in a rhythm section, because I can see it from different points of view, making my understanding stronger.
I enjoy grooving when playing in a rhythm section, I enjoy working with people who want to play groove oriented material and I enjoy helping musicians get other people dancing.
I get my kicks doing it.
It's that simple.
