HI, I am an experienced musician looking for others to do musical things with. I am a versatile player with a flare for funk and feel, but I am capable of transitioning between styles.
Without sounding like a blowhard, I grew up around the professional music scene and started working in the industry since the age of 14. My old man was a session muso and director of music at a college up in Bris. At that point I played sax, clarinet, guitar and bass and worked with a professional big band in the jazz circuit doing drum tech - lights - sound -stage management etc. I have worked on other big shows, festivals and personal assistant stuff for stuck up rock stars.
I also had other bands that gigged all over Brisbane, played bass in metal bands, guitar in stoner bands and recorded an electronic album in Melbourne in 2008 or something.
I have been pretty serious about drumming for quite a few years. I have a permanent set up in my home studio. At the moment I have been focused on getting some good recordings of covers to hock my cromulant playing. I am a studio literate musician, and know how to operate both analogue and digital systems.
I moved to Melbourne back in 2018 - but was hit by a car in 2019- I have had to spend quite a few years rehabbing my body. I was playing in a band on guitar very seriously, but since the accident I have chronic nerve pain every time I play. Maybe one day it will get better who knows. So my main focus is drums, and I practice every day.
Essentially I am looking for others who I gel with creatively - preferably with some experience. I feel like being able to talk musically with one another to be important. mainly because I have been in situations were I have been looked at like a tyrant for suggesting that the instruments be in tune or that playing 'with' each other rather than 'at' each other be a start.
So what am I looking for?
Experienced folks
+'ve attitudes and checked ego's
Interesting tunes, maybe covers
Does any one play brass and woodwinds anymore - I have a vibe for 70's funk that could be fun?
