40+ years pro experience.

Based in SW Sydney but will travel for well organised jams, rehearsals and gigs.

I'm familiar with most styles of music but my focus is on Jazz, Blues and blues related styles (Soul, Funk, Neo Soul etc). Texas, Jump/Jive, Chicago, Gospel, Jazz no problem.

I READ NOTATION AND CHORD CHARTS ON ALL INSTRUMENTS.

*GUITAR
Strong lead and rhythm skills....quite happy to play rhythm and sax while your regular guitarist does his thing.

*BASS
Pro standard, experienced in a wide variety of styles.
I have studied bass and play like a bass player....not like a guitar player who thinks he can play bass.....Freelance gigs only.

* SAX
Tenor and Alto......Blues, rock, funk, smooth jazz.
Experienced....Played in a bands on Sax only

* MANDOLIN
Chords and Improv. Maybe useful if your band does a acoustic blues set.

* VOCALS
I have about 20 odd blues tunes I can croak out. I can sing in tune and in time but I'm nothing special.

Mind you I've had a listen to quite a few singers who are out there working who are no better than me so maybe I'll take the vocals a bit more seriously this year (2024)

NORTHSIDE OF THE HARBOUR IS A BIT FAR FOR ME, AS IS THE CROSS.

But I'm open to be persuaded if the right ducks line up.
Can't travel however.....work for myself and "away gigs" cost me more than I earn. Anywhere else is ok.

I understand that a few crowd pleasers make good sense but I'm looking for a band that has a more Jazz or blues based repertoire.

I know there is little money in the Jazz/blues arena.....so this not about the money....more about playing creative enjoyable music with nice people.
