Music entered Bobby Maguire’s life at age fourteen when his father presented him with his first electric guitar while he healed from a chest operation at the Royal Children’s Hospital. ntly Bobby was captivated by songwriting and promptly used his recovery time to form a pop/rock band with his friends and brothers called Kan’d Peaches. The young band played their first gig at a 2008 New Year’s Eve party before going on to win the Mossman and Cairns under 18 Battle of the Bands. Kan’d Peaches then took the stage in front of crowds of thousands at the ‘Sunset in the Park’ and ‘Great Aussie Arvo’ Footprints Music Festivals in Port Douglas before placing third in the Global Battle of the Bands, and second in the Livewire Songwriters competition.
Later, at age 16, Bobby began hosting a weekly radio show on 90.9 Port Douglas FM while recording the band’s first E.P, produced by The Voice’ finalist Danny Ross. Bobby’s homemade music video for the single, “Take the Bus Back” from the new E.P featured twice on Channel 10’s Landed Music and earned the band a support slot sharing a stage with Brisbane buzz band Yves Klein Blue.
In 2011, within weeks of graduating from High School, Bobby moved from his home in Julatten to Melbourne to study music at JMC Academy.
Four years on, back in FNQ and with a Bachelor Degree in Music under his belt, Bobby has added modern loops and synth sampling technology to the line-up as he showcases his up-beat, catchy original numbers along with a range of popular covers from classics to new releases.
