Upright bass.ABOUT
I'm first and foremost a singer and flute player - flute in a jazz/blues style but also tin whistle (Irish music is a side interest) and shakuhachi. I play guitar mostly to accompany myself - finger-picking and rhythm. At the moment, I'm really enjoying working on jazz standards and bossa nova tunes and would like to find a guitarist who enjoys the same. Looking for opportunities to gig in a relaxed setting as a backing musician and singer and to record. Interested in harmony singing as well. I haven't written songs in a long time but have in the past - one, 'Paper Man', is on my Soundcloud. I'd love to play with a double bass player in any of the genres above.

Influences
Pretty broad including most American music genres - country, old timey, folk, blues, jazz, boogie, R 'n' B, soul and funk - with the exception of mainstream pop and rock 'n' roll. Also love much guitar-based indie rock of the 80's and '90's and almost everything that the great Brian Eno has touched in any form.
Core interest/influence is jazzy folk/folky jazz: Pentangle, Tim Buckley, Nick Drake, Nina Simone, etc. and the Van Morrison of Astral Weeks are old favourites. Contemporary artists in this vein I'm listening to a lot recently include Sam Amidon, BIll Frisell, Joe Henry and Cassandra Wilson.
