I started playing 35+ years ago but off and on and not serious for several years. Later, I played in a classic rock cover band (in a garage and some gigs) for a few years. Then I moved and was almost completely out of if for 10 years or so, until about ten years ago. For the past 10 years, I've jammed regularly with some guys (alternating on guitar and bass), but that's not happening now, and I've also played a few gigs with various bands that fizzled out for one reason or another.
