G'day, I'm a laid back 35 year-old drummer looking to collaborate with anyone on almost anything.
This includes drummers - I have a fair synthesizer setup and have never played anything but drums in a band.
I've had several lessons on bass and violin, primarily for writing purposes.
After covid ended the last band I played in I've been trying to write music alone for a year or so, getting nowhere fast.
I miss that feeling of collaboration, the unspoken bond of playing music with other people so much it hurts! So here I am writing this
- Roughly 18 years experience drumming plus many more banging stuff rhythmically as a child. So I'm at home with anything percussive... sticks, mallets, brushes, my hands, I love it all.
- Plenty of song-writing/practising experience within a band and some live improv experience too
- I'm no expert, but I've a decent amount of knowledge about Ableton/Reaper, VST/plugins as well as recording/mixing/mastering.
I have a recording studio in my house so this rs super helpful and saves a lotta money.
I hope to be making music with someone here soon!

Influences
everything really, from pop to metal to classical to 100% experimental noise. I love it all.
My experience within bands is skewed toward metal/hardcore punk, but I love all genres and would love to expand my experience.
I particularly like funk and the breakbeats that evolved from it, both in hip hop and DnB/jungle.
My biggest influence though is film, and by that I mean atmosphere.
That more than anything is what I set out to achieve - regardless of genre.
Hence my love for black metal, neo-classical drone, chamber music etc etc
A few favourite artists that stand out:
- Hendrix
- Nirvana
- James Brown and funk drummers like Bernard Purdie and Clyde Stubblefield
- Johann Johannsson and essentially all Icelandic music I've ever heard
- DJ Premier beats
- Remarc and most similar ragga jungle
