ABOUT

Hi all,

I'm starting a quiet weekly jam on my big back deck...a place for musos to meet and play impromptu stuff on a Wednesday night. If interested drop me a line.

This is intended to be just for fun and social purposes...a way to meet people, sing and practise without inhibitions or anxiety.

I'm also forming two bands.

One to play rock covers from the 70s and 80s era with a focus on those with a strong female lead singing voice (eg Linda Rondstadt, Bonnie Tyler, Tina Turner, Cher, Eurythmics etc).

The second to be The Wiggles for adults; a symbol of naive, misguided and couragous optimism; playing happy upbeat beachy songs (eg B2's). I'm not planning on wearing a skivvy, but the costume will be something equally embarrassing. (I want the blue one). I want a Motown kinda vibe.

I'm looking for guitarists of all kinds, and drummers

At this stage the bands are being put together for fun and laughs.

When it comes to people getting together, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts..I reckon.

I've had some professional singing experience (three months full time at 18 in a tawdry singing/dancing show in sequins and feathers) and I am grade 7 AMEB on piano; now transitioning to playing keys rather than playing classical pieces.

I'm not expecting this band to be much good. It might well sound bloody awful...
but it will be a hoot.

Everyone has to start somewhere.

I'm sure I can write something as good as the classic, "Do the Propeller."

Participants don't need to be all that talented now, but do need to be prepared to work and learn...and not take themselves too seriously.

Life is too important to be taken seriously.
So is music.
So...let's begin.

Creativity is more important than knowledge.

"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it now.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now."

Let's sing, let's dance...let's play.
