ABOUT

Extra! Extra!: Noob plays guitar, wants to make band.

Hi there!
I’ll upload some audio soon—assuming I can commit to exporting it. In the meantime, enjoy this rambling word soup I’ve prepared for your reading pleasure.

Why I’m Here:
On 22/01/2024, I bought an Ibanez RG guitar and immediately decided I was the next big thing. I clearly needed another excuse to avoid productivity. Since then, I’ve been fumbling my way through scales and riffs, and thought, “Hey, why not join a site where other people might be making the same questionable life decisions?”

NNSW has a lot of passionate people, passionate for a lot of different reasons. I really don't give a fu*k what people think and I'm not out to garner social status or rise to the cream of the local hierarchy in an effort to desperately fill a childhood void of some sort. cough cough

I don't know what everyone expects from being on here?

I'd like to meet some people in the area that like music and want to make it.... Music that is.. XD

Where I’m At:
Right now, I’m piecing together the modes of the Natural major/minor and pentatonic scales. Translation: I’m trying to slide between shapes without sounding like a cat falling down a staircase. Mostly, I’m practicing boring things that don't impress anyone because I'm trying to get better at playing instead of trying to get people to tell me how good I am. And of course I'm messing around with metal, drop tuning, and random riffs from a bunch of genres that everyone’s heard a thousand times.

My gear setup includes a Boss RC-10R loop station (Looper with drums), a bunch of other pedals and a Positive Grid practice amp. I’ve been experimenting with tone and pretending I know what I’m doing when it comes to playing. I’ve got a home studio and 15+ years of production experience. So, if nothing else, I can at least make the train wrecks sound professional.

My Approach to Music:
I try to play what sounds good and I do mess that up but I'm getting there, 'enjoy the process' as they say. I’m happy to be the fool and enjoy the process. Side note: Genre purists are like pigeons: noisy, persistent, and impossible to reason with.

So, if you’re passionate about music, not afraid to sound bad before you sound good, and can handle some brutal honesty with a side of sarcasm, let’s jam. Worst case, we make some noise. Best case? We make something real.

Here's the lyrics to a song I've started writing -

Zero fu*ks given
four ducks crossing a road
five pissed idiots
five broken homes.
Seven years sober
nine years of trial
six sad wise men
nine on the dial
six canary's total
zero in the mines

Did you guess the name of the song yet?
