Hello
I'm looking to join or start a band playing mostly original music. I've played drums since I was 15, and guitar since I was 13 (though I only started seriously and consistently practicing in the past few years). I had around 8 gigs on drums with my previous band, playing a mix of covers and originals of punk, classic rock, and some funk and blues.
I like a wide range of genres and think that basically every style of music has something to appreciate and learn from. My priority is more to find people who are I think the combination of different influences and skills is one of the most exciting things about making music with other people anyway.

Influences
I primarily play fingerstyle acoustic guitar and I'm heavily influenced by folk/singer songwriter artists like Elliot Smith, Nick Drake, and Adrianne Lenker, fingerstyle bluesmen like Charlie Patton, Magic Sam, Leadbelly, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, and chord-melody arrangements in the vein of Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel and Joe Pass.
Some others include Yvette Young, Michael Hedges, Rosie Frater-Taylor, John Fahey, The Durutti Column, Jeff Beck and Johnny Greenwoods fingerstyle on songs such as Nude, Weird Fishes, Faust Arp, Thin Thing and his performances of Electric Counterpoint. I've also adopted some techniques from Classical, Flamenco, and Latin Styles such as Bossa and Samba.
Some drummers I like include Louis Cole, JD Beck, Zach Hill, Danny Carey of Tool, Morgan Simpson of Black Midi and Damon Che of Don Caballero. Obviously this chaotic style of drumming doesn't suit many genres and I'm happy playing simpler, more laid back parts. I think the most important thing is to serve the song and the drummers I most aspire to emulate are Vinnie Couliouta and particularly Steve Gadd, they're the greatest I've heard in terms of dynamic control, articulation, groove and musicality.
