Band to Join, Violin, Fiddle.

ABOUT

Hey! I’m James. I’m a fiddle player, cellist, keys player and aspiring metal vocalist. I’m also vision impaired, which I’ll explain further below.
But first, I have a 20+ year history of violin, particularly folk genres, however I am classically trained and hold a bachelor’s degree in violin from UNE in Armidale NSW. I am extremely comfortable improvising on this instrument.
I also have a jazz degree with Hons from VCA in Melbourne majoring on piano, which also translates to my fiddle and Cello playing.
Finally, I have always been passionate about metal, and would love the opportunity to perform vocals. I will be posting some examples soon.
I am vision impaired. This unfortunately means I can’t read sheet music anymore, however I used to be able to. Since losing this skill I have focused more on my improvising and aural skills. I promise I will surprise you with how quick I can slot in to anything on fiddle, Cello and keys, and can quickly learn melodies. However this does mean I don’t drive a car, but am capable of travelling on PT and also if it is a recorded part you’re after, I have a home studio.

I’m looking for fun bands to play in with good people. I’ll happily slot in for your fiddle player in a bluegrass/jazz band if they are away, or if a professional band is seeking a dedicated and hardworking member. Likewise on cello, I can play with singer-songwriters comfortably. If a metal band is willing to give me a go, I’d appreciate the opportunity and again will hopefully have a demo up soon.
