Genre World | Comments I wrote the lyrics and melody for a "Sing for Peace" contest in Songtree using an original guitar progression by a fellow Songtree community musician. Other musician friends collaborated by adding bass, strings and harmony, guitar solo and percussion. We won the first prize for this effort.... 😄
Sweet Song of Peace
Let us make peace with ourselves
Let us be free from craving
And we crave for more and more, acquiring more than we need!
Turn a blind eye to the man on the street, dump our waste into the sea
We’ve caused more harm than we realised by fuelling desire and greed
Let us find peace in ourselves
and let our hatred cease.
Peace is found within, not without, selflessness is key
Holding onto fire, aiming at each other
We’re the ones whose first to get burnt by holding onto anger!
When will we learn to let go?
When can we learn to be free?
Letting go of aversion!
To be free from delusion!
Let us find peace in ourselves
Be less concerned with our status
Name and form are just conventions
We’re not defined by our colour
When we find peace in ourselves extend beyond imagination!
We can be sure of future generations, live in peace together
When will we learn to let go?
When can we learn to be free?
Letting go of aversion!
To be free from delusion!
