ABOUT

I’ve been playing the drums professionally for about 25 years now. I've been tapping and annoying people since I can ever remember—early memories of my mum pleading to "stop that racket." Yes, the police have come to my house on several occasions for 'noise complaints,' and we are now on a first-name basis.

First and foremost, I’m extremely professional. I tend to be the one that arrives hours before a gig or practice and the last one to leave. I can communicate my own ideas and am extremely resourceful with my craft. I take creative criticism well and always welcome suggestions on how to improve.

I’ve had an amazing music career so far, and it’s only just beginning. I’ve played some incredible gigs like Big Day Out, The Vanguard, The Basement, The Manning Bar, The Hordern Pavilion, The Big Top, Pete’s Ridge Festival, Tamworth Country Festival, and the Blues and Jazz Festival The Rocks—just to name a few. I’ve also recorded several albums, singles, and EPs as a session drummer, with tracks featured on Triple J and FBi Radio. I play all sorts of genres, from rock and blues to jazz, country, and beyond.

Beyond performing, I’ve owned a recording studio, taught drums for years, and filled in for drummers at the last minute. My experience extends beyond the stage—I’ve worked in the music industry as an award-winning marketing creative, specializing in festival circuit design, video, editing, and photography. I’ve also toured with some big names and worked as both a sound technician and drum technician at several well-known venues across Sydney.

Now that I’ve settled down with my family in Tasmania, I’m looking to teach, join a casual band, mentor, or consult. I still love playing and sharing my experience with others, whether it’s helping musicians refine their sound, teaching aspiring drummers, or collaborating on creative projects.

Feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to chat!

Influences

As a drummer, I believe in keeping an open mind when it comes to musical influences. There is a distinct difference between the music I enjoy as a listener and the music I analyze from a drummer’s perspective. When preparing for practice or a session, I often turn to technically renowned drummers such as Neil Peart, John Bonham, Chad Smith, Mike Portnoy, and David Garibaldi, among others. Their work serves as both inspiration and a foundation for honing my craft.

That said, I am not limited to any particular genre or playing style. I am a versatile drummer with experience across jazz, funk, rock, folk, country, alternative, fusion, Latin, and world music. My passion lies in playing music that is soulful, expressive, and emotionally resonant—the kind of music that tells a story and evokes genuine feeling. Whether it brings a smile or stirs deep emotions, I am fully committed to bringing that energy to every performance.

If the music speaks to me, I will give 110%—delivering my skill, creativity, and dedication to every note.
