As a musician I'm a tinkerer in need of a collaborator or two. I'm attracted both by acoustic music ranging from Celtic folk and West African 'guitar music', through Middle Eastern ud and on through various folky pop music and metallic art rock. Influences
I've been an avid consumer of music since birth - the list of influences is huge. I think Bone Machine by Tom Waits is one of the best recordings I've ever heard, but I don't love all the songs. The alternative pop put out between 1980-2000 by various artists from the South Island of New Zealand was my area of specialisation when I was a presenter on RRR and PBS. The folk revival in Ireland and UK in the mid - late 20th century threw up some fabulous music. I also love lots of Old Timey music, and nearly anything from Mali in West Africa (Ali Farka Toure, Afel Boucoum, Tinariwen, etc.).
