Li is a Jazz & contemporary saxophonist based in Perth, Western Australia.
Although she is young Li has gained a big resume of experiences, gigging with funk/ jazz fusion bands (main band JUNK) to contemporary bands playing gigs at a broad range of different venues and festivals all over the Perth and WA, s music scene. Places include, Nannup festival (Nannup), Mojos (Fremantle), YMCA HQ(Leederville) and Busselton fringe festival (Busselton). Li’s biggest achievements have been when she achieved a certificate III in Music Performance & to perform at Nannup festival where nationwide artists have performed (Noah Dillon, Carla Geneve and Jack Davies).
Throughout her years as a performer Li has been apart of many different ensembles/ bands, with her main band being JUNK.
JUNK is a jazz fusion band splicing elements jazz and classic funk as well as taking pieces of genres such as neo soul and hip hop to give you a unique and groovy musical style. Junk’s sound has been influenced by artists such as Snarky Puppy, Hiatus Kaitoye, Tribe called quest, James’s brown, and butter. JUNK have played all over the music Perth scene playing with popular upcoming artists who are based in Perth. Artists include Siena Rebelo, The Stamps, Project bexx, Mirrorball, foothead etc.
This year Li is aiming to have release an EP with her band JUNK and to achieve her Diploma of Music. Apart from this she hopes to continue to perform at live venues, regarding the COVID Pandemic. and to dive into more musical styles that she has not yet gotten the chance to learn about and play before.
