I studied Drama and Music for my HSC in 2018. I was awarded both an ONSTAGE and ENCORE nomination for my related practical components. My HSC Music pieces included one jazz item, music of the 21st century piece and a musical theatre piece called “I’m Here” from the Colour Purple.
In 2016, I successfully auditioned for the lead singer in the Brass RaZoo, the school Jazz Big Band which is I obtained for three years. This Band undertakes training and rehearsals between 2-3 times per week and regularly performed at both school and civic events. Leading up to gigs and performances the band rehearsed intensely up to 4 times per week.
During school I attended private music and drama tuition for two years with Julie Wilson, an award winning Jazz vocalist. Julie has been collaborating with me on many genres of music including jazz and musical theatre.
As lead singer of the Brass RaZoo, I had the opportunity to perform regularly. This included school functions, the annual Graduation Ball, annual Debutante Ball, and several Jazz Festivals. Based on our success at the Graduation Ball we were invited to play at the Royal Australia Air Force Annual Ball and invited back again the next year. Following this I was invited to join the Australia Army Band as lead vocalist at the ‘Music of the Guns’, a public event to commemorate returned service people. I attended numerous rehearsals with the Army Big Band and performed in front of a crowd of hundreds at Fort Scratchley. I have subsequently been invited to join the Army Big Band as lead vocalist after the HSC.
