ABOUT

Hi, I'm Luke. I played drums live and in the studio for about a decade with the funk rock group "No Stairway". Once we decided to call it quits, I've taken up studying sound production and working at a local rehersal studio by night. I still miss playing original music though. I have a decent handle on guitar, bass and can sing a little too, though I've typically used those for writing rather than performing. The examples here are all put together from my own playing, i just have trouble coming up with lyrics, so they're all without vocals. In any case, they should give you an idea of the sounds i'm leaning into when writing these days.

Influences

I grew up listening to a lot of classic rock, prog and guitar-based music in general. Biggest drumming influences are John Bonham, Chad Smith and Mike Portnoy.
These days, my listening is broken up into funky/jazzy stuff like Louis Cole, Ghost Note, Vulfpeck etc, as well as much heavier prog inspired stuff like Animals as Leaders, Vildhjarta, Gojira, Mastodon. I also dig a bunch of the aussie psych-rock stuff like King Gizz, Tame Impala, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.
I lean towards Guitar and Bass when writing music as i'm most proficient with it, when it comes to tuned instruments.
