Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Drums.ABOUT
Singer/Drummer. 18yrs old. Have a band, Handgrenade Hearts, and looking for a likeminded bassist within same age group to join us.
Frankly, virtuosity isnt an issue. Seriously - fuck that. Determination & ability to learn & be adventerous & a drama-less personality is. That is what we are looking for.
Should have an idea about putting on a great live show (stagecraft): dressing up, hamming it up and enjoy doing it.
We have played live around town at bit now trying to break into the scene. Writing and performing mostly originals & some covers.
Have a free "studio" we rehearse at in Bentleigh East.
Also got an offer to do a release with a local label.
We are into 70's and modern stuff influenced by it:
Punk like Damned, Ramones, X, Heartbreakers, Zeros, Pistols, Clash, Saints, Radio Birdman, DEVO, B-52s
Powerpop/pop like Buzzcocks, The Jam, Generation X, Blondie, Big Star, The Who, Beatles, Stones,, Bowie, Brill Building Pop
Eggpunk/Synthpunk like B-52s, Devo, Dickies and love local bands like Billiam & the Split Bills, TV Repairmen, Specimens, Unknowns
Protopunk like Stooges, MC5, New York Dolls, Dictators, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed & 60s garage
Bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Slade, TRex, The Datsuns as well.
Not into hardcore/chain punk, although tough sounding songs are absolutely cool - just dont like the screamo vocal (wannabe Darby Crash (Germs), later Black Flag/ So Cal Hardcore element.
Will not do RHCP or Talking Heads funk/punk; funk is great. punk is great. together, meh.
Knowing any of this stuff is a bonus. Don't have to be a technical genius, although having a sense of style, willingness to be open to learn, work smart and appreciate great music is a major plus.
