Hey folks! I'm looking for some creative partners to bounce ideas around and explore some interesting and unexpected territory. My dream is to meet good communicators and exceptional musicians who want to serve the song, not the ego. We'll make a deal: I'll never play a guitar solo, and you'll never play a blast beat. I believe that the best things come from collaboration, teamwork, and never resting on your successes.
I'm very interested in polyrhythms, polymeter, minimalistic reich-esque phasing, and general musical trickery.
Current song I'm practicing: "Discipline" by King Crimson. Up next: "Super Mario World 2 Overworld Theme"
Do you want to write through-composed prog metal trance-induction groovy minimalist masterpieces?
Do you want to make them catchy and fun, and curiously listenable?
Do you want to play long long sets because you just love to play, and sometimes it takes a while to make the crowd feel transcendent?
Do you agree that it's best to do this all (mostly) sober so that we can do our best?
If yes, send me a line and I'd love to meet you!

Influences
While subdivideable into genres (doom/stoner metal, prog, world music, funk, afrobeat, minimalism, mystical religious stuff), all the music I love makes me feel like I've been swept away:
Tinariwen, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tool, King Crimson, Steve Reich, Sleep, Conan, Captain Beefheart, Derek Gripper, Swans, Fela Kuti, James Brown, Meshuggah, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ravi Shankar, Shawn Lane & Jonas Hellborg, Howlin' Wolf, Alt-J, Grateful Dead, etc.
A regular part of my practice routine is Rich Stitzel's "DrumMantra" because I'd hate to be a guitarist who has no rhythm.

EQUIPMENT
I've got a Kiesel 8-String electric guitar, Cort Acoustic Guitar, a coupla fuzz pedals, and a hand-me-down Crate amp. It sounds okay, but I've been waiting to get a bigger amp until I actually need it.
