ABOUT

Musician/composer/songwriter recently returned to Sydney looking to build an alternative / electronic / ambient inspired orchestra, combining acoustic and electronic instrumentation. The idea is to use a combination of building around song and instrumental structures but with experimental elements and interesting production.

Looking for musicians interested in creativity. Very keen to meet a bass player, and other instrumentalists interested in textures, eg keys/piano or synth, guitarists who like using pedals, cellists, violin players, and percussionists- open to all ideas. I think the best thing about playing with other musicians is each person bringing their own unique voice, and the original sound that creates.

you you can hear music I’ve written / sung on at Blackdiamondorchestra.com and
https://www.triplejunearthed.com/artist/black-diamond-orchestra, but there’s lots more and I would say better material than that in the pipeline.

Influences

Anything that combines good songwriting with experimentation and interesting production, Eg think Radiohead, Portishead , Eno, to more electronic stuff like Tangerine Dream Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Kraftwerk. Also folk / folk rock Bert Jansch, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and some jazz eg Alice Coltrane, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Sun Ra. Also into new age, minimalist, ambient, krautrock genres. Lately I’ve been enjoying Caribou, Nilufer Yanya, MJ Lenderman, and Aussie artists like the Necks, the Dirty Three and Close to Forever as well.
