Drums, Fiddle.ABOUT
The Distant South are a Melbourne based AltCountry, Americana band playing our own original songs and telling our own stories of Love, Life, Heartbreak - and everything that lies between. Comprising singer/songwriter, Nick Howells, Brad Partridge on guitar, Pete Reno on Banjo and John Otis on drums. Inspired by altcountry, Americana, Bluegrass and Folk music, influences include Jason Isbell, Sierra Ferrell, liz Stringer, Old Crow Medicine Show, Gillian Welch and Courtney Marie Andrews. Acoustic by nature but also driving into R & B and soul - melody, harmony and emotion are the artefacts that define the sound of The Distant South. We are seeking a committed bass player with excellent musicianship to join the band. Our preference is to have someone who at least has the ability to sing backing vocals. The band has played extensively in 2023 and 2024 and have shows booked through to April in 2025. We are due to record our second full length album in May 2025. If you are interested in finding out more, please get in touch.
