I'm a singer songwriter in my late 40s with a bunch of what I think are strong songs that I would like to "get out there" somehow. I don't think my stuff sounds like the "vanity project of some bloke in his 40s" but everything is subjective of course. My singing is so-so but am working on it. Guitar wise I use a lot of different tunings but generally it doesn't sound like Joni or Nick Drake etc I used to play in new wave bands in the uk, gave up on playing for a long time but for some reason the 'muse' found me again. Thanks muse! Why not 20 years earlier?! Oh well, we're all going to die so nothing to lose in giving it a crack again now.
Structure of my songs is fairly straightforward rock rather than folk but can hear the jazz, folk, early 80s influence. Would love to find a sympathetic double-bass player (Danny Thompson, Lloyd Swanton...!) to look at recording and gigging and take it from there. Bass was my first love, so can see how it would fit in.

Influences
My pantheon includes Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Steve Reich, Fela Kuti, Scott Walker, Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg, Bert Jansch, Nick Drake, The Necks, Tim Buckley, Dylan, Cohen and co but I still like stuff from my youth like Joy Division, Talk Talk, The Stranglers, Simple Minds etc. Also love dub reggae, some roots music but I'm generally not a massive Americana person with some exceptions. I love great songs by anyone from any era.
