Hi, I was singing and playing trumpet and saxophone with a dance band in the 60's, then took a couple of decades off to raise a family, whilst still singing for myself at home with a couple of gigs as Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly impersonators. I have been actively singing country music around the amateur clubs in Geelong, Ballarat and regional Victoria. I had one paid gig in with my wife, Rusty Gates in Maryborough along with Graham Coutts and Maree Henderson making up the band. Have written 30 of my own songs. I have played trumpet since I was 10 and saxophone from 21, acoustic guitar for 6 years, and banjo only a beginner. I have a CD, Travelling Cowboy, that was produced by a good mate Wayne Isbister and this includes 5 of my original songs and 9 covers. 2 of the songs from it were on Broadcast Country Radio in October 2010 as No 9. The Nearest thing to Heaven, a cover of the Johnny Cash song and No 10. Travelling Cowboy, my own composition and the title song from my CD.
