ABOUT

I'm a producer, pianist, composer, audio engineer, project manager and all round musician. I have over 30 years international industry experience which beside audio production also emcompasses interactive CD ROMs (when they were a thing), Video Production, special FX, multimedia presentations and animated title design for the big screen. I also did post sound and ADR on a number of movies and documentaries.

As a composer I'm very versatile and have pieces resembling from Jazz/Swing to Pop, Folk, Punk, Metal, "elevator-music" and more estoteric tracks like Arab-pop in my repertoire. I also compose and produce orchestral pieces (eg SA State Library Documentary "Real to Reel").

As a producer I aim to embellish the artists strengths.

My golden rule (when performing/playing as well as producing) is simple: Does it serve the song?

I hold formal certificates in Audio Engineering (L4) and project management (PRINCE2) and I have been trained in improvisation techniques, composition and song writing.

I can lead a production project from inception to completion or join in at any stage in various capacities.

I run a small studio in Goolwa, SA. Reasonable rates. Reach out for more info: ridiculo.us

Influences

Many.

In the pop arena I really like 80ties pop. From Depeche Mode to Tears for Fears, A-ha to Alphaville - or anything in between. I also like the darker/ goth side of things: Cure, Sisters of Mercy, or Portishead.
But I also love Kate Bush, Madonna or Massive Attack.

My EBM & EDM roots run deep with Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, or Klinik. In the dance & club arena I'm a fan of anything deep and trance; think Berlin/Frankfurt, early-mid 90ties. Eath Nation (live eDrum techno) or Der Dritte Raum most notably.

But I also like Tool or RHCP. I appreciate great musician ship even if I don't especially like the music (like eg Justin Bieber - or Metallica at the other end. I consider them excellent musicians, but neither appeal to my taste).

I enjoyed a classical accordion and piano education and played in orchestras in my youth. No doubt this had a major influence, too.

In the classical world I have a soft spot for Eastern European and Russian composers from the Baroque to Turn of the Century period. But I also like it light: Mozart was the first real pop star in my opinion. and if you haven't watched "Amadeus" just do it! It features a great set of his "greatest hits".

Reading through this I realize that I'm basically saying nothing at all as all music and styles have influenced me somewhat.

Ah well... go figure ;-)
