ABOUT

Mid-40s gay gay (only mentioning this so you don't reach out if that's going to be an issue) on the northside. Recently returned to properly playing music after a long time away, and I'm currently playing bass in the band Flamboyant Nightmare.

I'm mainly looking for an originals band (fine to include some covers too) and would love something that's a bit experimental/genre crossing. Something with synth/electronica in the mix with a alt/rock/heavy-ish base and melodic vocals would be great - my absolute ideal project would probably be something in the vein of VOLA. Anything that's generally just heavy (especially prog rock/metal) would be good too - though I have that itch mostly scratched with my current band so it's not necessary.

I'd consider a working covers band if the style was right, i.e. hitting some of my fave bands.

Try me if you have an idea outside of all this, though.

Influences

While there are heaps of bands/artists that I'm influenced by, the main ones would be Metallica, Dream Theater, Haken, Kyuss and Pantera.

Other bands I like include: VOLA, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Ihlo, Scissor Sisters, Air, Leprous, Mildlife, Muse, Intervals, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Powderfinger, Kiss, Karnivool, Plini, Caligula's Horse, Tesseract, etc.

Realistically, I love almost every type of music. If it's interesting and/or has something to say (and isn't too death metal-y or too country), I can probably get into it.

EQUIPMENT

Basses: My main is an Ernie Ball Musicman Bongo 6-string. Others include an Ibanez SRMS806 (6-string multi-scale) and a 4-string Fender Jazz.
Effects: mainly run compressor (Dark Glass Hyperluminal) with OD/fuzz (Dark Glass Alpha/Omega and Deluxe Big Muff), but have a number of other pedals too (octave, chorus, reverb, delay, phaser, wah, etc.).
Amp: Fender Rumble 500.

I'm able to purchase other equipment if needed for the right opportunity/situation.
