SEEKING
Cello, Clarinet, Flute, Trumpet, Violin.ABOUT
I am a hobbyist musician-producer working on my first full-length album out of a home studio in Grovedale. I am into lyrical / folktronica / down-tempo / lo-fi / ambient music -- you can listen to my stuff at https://sqrsy.bandcamp.com/. I am looking for local musicians who would like to collaborate on studio projects, for example contributing to one another's solo projects. If that works out, maybe we could even compose something together.
Typically, I play with drum machines, synthesizers, bass, and guitar. I also dabble in some folk instruments like ukulele, melodeon, and tin whistle. I'm hoping to find musicians who play either:
- orchestral brass, woodwind, or string
- melodic percussion like xylophone or glockenspiel
- unusual folk instruments
- female vocals
If you'd like to lay down some tracks with me, I am happy to reciprocate by:
- contributing tracks to your project
- producing and/or mixing you or your band
- teaching you something new
I approach music with a relaxed, experimental and DIY mindset.
There's a good chance we'll work well together if:
- you view collaboration as an opportunity to learn (and to teach!)
- you are serious about making music but don't take making music too seriously
- you care more about creative ambition than "skill"
- you think "weird" is a complement
- you want to harmonize an Aztec death whistle with a trumpet run through a broken mp3 encoder
- you feel like a dog barking next door is an opportunity for a new percussive fill
- you are open to writing a melody in double harmonic minor (even if you don't know what that is)
- you like Nirvana and Sunny Day Real Estate more than Foo Fighters
- you love the sound of dusty vinyl and warbling tape
- you take a "Yes And" approach to creating
All skill levels welcome. No prior studio experience necessary.
If this sounds interesting to you, send me a message.
